In the VCM process, a rigid PVC or PET decorative film is thermally laminated onto cold rolled, galvanized or stainless base steel, producing a fully finished surface that requires no post-painting after forming.

What Is VCM Steel?
VCM (Vinyl Coated Metal) is a pre-finished steel product in which a decorative polymer film is bonded to the metal surface under heat and pressure. Unlike post-painting, the film carries the color and texture before the steel is formed, so bends, draws and embossed patterns keep a uniform appearance without paint cracking. VCM sits alongside PCM (Pre-coated Metal, coil-coated paint) as one of the two mainstream appliance panel materials, with VCM chosen whenever deeper textures, higher gloss or special patterns are required.

Every VCM coil starts with certified base steel and film lots. During laminating we monitor line temperature, pressure and speed to hold peel strength above standard requirements. Finished coils are checked for pattern alignment, color difference against the master, film thickness, pencil hardness, T-bend adhesion and reverse impact. Each shipment carries a QC report, and third-party testing such as SGS can be arranged on request.
