Aluminized Silicon Coated Sheet with Custom Punching
Aluminized silicon sheet is cold-rolled steel that carries a hot-dip aluminium–silicon coating instead of a zinc coating. The aluminium-rich coating behaves differently from galvanized or Galvalume material: when it is heated it forms a thin, tightly adherent aluminium oxide film, and a metallurgical interdiffusion layer develops between the coating and the steel base. That combination is why Al-Si coated steel is specified where ordinary coated steel would oxidise, scale or fail.
MESCO STEEL supplies this material as flat sheet and coil and then perforates it — we punch the holes on the coated sheet so that you receive a finished, dimensionally controlled component rather than raw material that still has to be sent to a second workshop. Hole size, hole spacing, pattern arrangement, margin and sheet size are all produced to your drawing, so the same perforated Al-Si sheet can be used as an exhaust heat shield, a muffler baffle, a ventilation grille, a filtration screen or an acoustic attenuation panel.

Heat-resistant coated surface
The Al-Si coating is designed for elevated-temperature service, where it develops a protective aluminium oxide film and an interdiffusion layer at the coating–steel interface instead of scaling away.
Corrosion resistance
The aluminium-rich surface protects the steel base against atmospheric and condensate corrosion. It performs particularly well in the combination of heat and moisture that destroys many other coated sheets.
Accurate punching
Holes are punched with controlled diameter, centre distance and open area. Round, square, slotted and hexagonal patterns are produced, in straight or staggered arrangement.

Send a drawing, a sample or a photograph of the pattern you need. Tooling, margins, hole-to-edge distance and sheet size are agreed before production starts.
Formable after perforating
Perforated Al-Si sheet can be cut, bent, rolled or welded into a finished part, which is why it is widely used for shields, baffles, covers and enclosures.

Perforation and Punching Capability
Perforation is not a decorative step for this material. On a heat shield or a muffler baffle the hole pattern directly controls airflow, radiated noise and heat transfer, so the pattern has to be reproduced accurately rather than approximated. Incoming material
Coating mass, surface condition and mechanical properties of the Al-Si coated sheet are verified against the certificate before the coil is opened for processing.
First-article approval
The first punched blank is measured against the drawing for hole diameter, pitch, open area and margin, and approved before the run continues.
In-process inspection
Hole dimensions, burr height and coating condition are checked during the run so a drift in tooling wear is caught inside the batch, not after it ships.
Final inspection and packing
Finished sheets are inspected for hole quality, coating damage and flatness, then packed for sea freight with protection against edge contact and moisture.

Can you perforate aluminized silicon steel sheet to our own hole pattern?
Yes. Send a drawing, a DXF, a sample or a clear photograph with a scale reference and we will produce the pattern. Standard patterns run on existing tooling; project-specific patterns require dedicated tooling, which is quoted together with the material.
Which thicknesses can be punched?
Production samples of this material measure approximately 2.6 mm, which is representative of the thickness range used for heat shields and load-bearing perforated parts. Thinner and thicker gauges can be punched as well — the achievable combination of thickness, hole diameter and open area depends on the pattern, so it is confirmed for your drawing rather than assumed.
Does punching affect the aluminized silicon coating?
The coating stays intact on both flat faces, while the punched edge exposes the steel core, as it does with any cut or sheared edge on coated sheet. Whether that matters depends on the application, so the edge condition, any re-protection required and the tolerance for coating disturbance around the holes are agreed per order.
Is Al-Si coated steel the right choice for a hot part?
It is normally the right family when a part works hot and also sees moisture or condensate. The Al-Si coating forms a protective aluminium oxide film and an interdiffusion layer instead of scaling, which is why it is common in exhaust and high-temperature equipment. The service limit for a specific coating mass and thickness is confirmed with the quotation.
Do you supply the material only, or the material already punched?
Both. You can buy Al-Si coated sheet or coil as material, or buy the same material already perforated and cut to blank size. Buyers who already run their own press normally take material; buyers who want a finished component take the punched sheet.
How is perforated sheet packed for export?
Sheets are stacked and strapped on pallets or in wooden cases, with interleaving and edge protection to prevent coating scuffing and hole-edge contact damage during sea freight. Packing is specified per order and confirmed in the packing list.
