Structural Steel Sections (H-Beam, I-Beam, Angle, Channel)
Hot rolled structural steel sections in Q235B, Q355B, SS400 and ASTM A36 for steel buildings, bridges, platforms and general fabrication.
Overview
MESCO supplies hot rolled structural steel sections — H-beams, I-beams, angle steel and channel steel — for steel structures, industrial buildings, bridges, platforms, frames and general fabrication. Manufactured to Chinese (GB), Japanese (JIS), American (ASTM) and European (EN) standards, our sections provide predictable yield strength, weldability and dimensional accuracy for structural engineers and fabricators.
We stock a wide range of standard sections and can supply cut-to-length, drilled, welded or fabricated components on request. With 19 years of steel export experience and supply to 9 Fortune 500 customers in over 60 countries, MESCO is a dependable partner for construction and engineering projects of any scale.
What Are Structural Steel Sections?
Structural steel sections are hot rolled profiles with standardized cross-section shapes designed to carry loads efficiently. An H-beam (or wide-flange beam) has wide flanges that resist bending in two directions, ideal for columns and primary beams. An I-beam has a narrower flange and is used where load is mainly vertical. Angle steel (L-shaped) and channel steel (U-shaped) are used for bracing, framing, brackets and light structural members.
Because they are produced by hot rolling, these sections retain a consistent microstructure with good ductility and weldability. Selecting the correct section size and grade is essential for structural safety, and our engineers help you specify the right profile, length and steel grade for your loading conditions.
Common Section Types
| Section | Shape | Typical Sizes | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| H-beam (wide flange) | H | 100x100 - 1000x300 mm | Columns, primary beams, portal frames |
| I-beam | I | 10# - 63# | Floor beams, crane girders |
| Equal angle | L | 20x20 - 250x250 mm | Bracing, brackets, trusses |
| Unequal angle | L | 30x20 - 250x150 mm | Frames, supports |
| Channel (U) | U | 5# - 40# | Purlins, frames, stringers |
Key Features & Benefits
- Guaranteed mechanical properties: yield strength, tensile strength and elongation per grade standard, with mill certificates.
- Excellent weldability: low carbon equivalents make our sections easy to weld with standard procedures.
- Dimensional accuracy: controlled hot rolling ensures consistent web and flange dimensions.
- Wide size range: from small angles to heavy H-beams, with cut-to-length supply.
- Processing services: drilling, notching, coping, welding and assembly on request.
- Traceable quality: every batch is backed by mill certificates and third-party inspection options.

Applications
- Portal frames for warehouses, factories and workshops
- Multi-storey steel buildings and mezzanine floors
- Bridge girders, gantries and crane runways
- Roof trusses, purlins and bracing systems
- Platforms, walkways, towers and transmission structures
Quality Control
Incoming sections are checked against mill certificates for chemical composition and mechanical properties, and samples are periodically tested for yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Dimensional checks cover web height, flange width, flange thickness and straightness per standard tolerances. Ultrasonic testing can be arranged for heavy sections, and third-party inspection by SGS, TUV or Bureau Veritas is available before loading.

FAQ
What steel grades do you supply for structural sections?
We supply Q235B, Q355B, SS400, ASTM A36, A992, S275JR and S355JR, with mill certificates on request.
Can you cut sections to specific lengths?
Yes. We supply 6 m and 12 m standard lengths, or cut-to-length to your exact requirement.
Do you offer galvanized sections?
Yes. We can arrange hot-dip galvanizing of sections to protect against corrosion in exposed applications.
Can you fabricate complete structural components?
Yes. We fabricate base plates, stiffeners, welded frames and complete portal frame kits from your drawings.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum quantities depend on section size. Small angles and channels can be supplied in modest quantities; heavy beams are quoted per ton.
