Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Schedule 40 and Schedule 80?
Schedule 80 has a thicker wall than Schedule 40 at the same nominal size. For example, a 2" Sch 40 pipe has a 2.1 mm wall, while Sch 80 has 3.9 mm. Sch 80 is used for higher pressure, mechanical strength and corrosive service where a thicker wall adds safety margin.
Should I use 304 or 316L for chemical service?
316L is recommended for chloride-containing media, acids (sulfuric, phosphoric), and marine environments due to its 2-3% Mo content that resists pitting. 304 is suitable for most organic chemicals, food and general process water but may pit in halogen-rich service.
Do you supply polished stainless pipes?
Yes. We offer mill, 180-grit, 240-grit, 320-grit, 400-grit and 600-grit polished finishes, plus bright annealed (BA) for sanitary / pharmaceutical applications. Polished pipes are individually sleeved to protect the surface during transport.
What is the standard pipe length?
Standard mill length is 6 meters. We can also supply cut-to-length from 0.5 m to 12 m, with optional end forming (threading, beveling, flanging, grooving).
