Overview
MESCO manufactures and exports Al-Mg-Mn aluminum roofing sheet for metal roofing applications, supplying both coated aluminium coil for on-site roll forming and finished roll-formed roofing panels. The material is produced from 3003, 3004 and 3104 aluminium-magnesium-manganese alloy in H24 and H44 temper, in thicknesses of 0.8 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm, and in coil widths of 400 mm, 500 mm, 575 mm and 600 mm.
Surface finish is a key part of the specification for roofing, because the coating carries the weathering performance and the architectural colour. We offer fluorocarbon (PVDF) and polyester systems with dry film thickness of 16 µm, 25 µm or 35 µm, applied as single-coat, double-coat or triple-coat, so the same base alloy can be matched to different project requirements. Standard colours include dark grey, silver grey and sky blue, and custom colour matching is available against your sample or colour reference.
What Is Al-Mg-Mn Aluminum Roofing Sheet?
Al-Mg-Mn aluminum roofing sheet is a 3xxx-series aluminium alloy in which manganese is the main alloying addition and magnesium is used to improve formability and corrosion behaviour. That combination gives the material two properties that matter on a roof: it can be bent and roll-formed into deep standing seam profiles without cracking, and it resists atmospheric corrosion without relying on a sacrificial metallic coating.
Compared with galvanized or colour-coated steel roofing, aluminium roofing sheet is significantly lighter, which reduces the load on the purlin and main structure, and it does not rust when the cut edge is exposed or when the panel surface is scratched through to the base metal. It is also fully recyclable at end of life, and it performs without a zinc coating, so there is no zinc run-off to manage.

Key Features
Low Roof Load
Aluminium weighs roughly one third of steel for the same volume, so a metal roofing system in Al-Mg-Mn sheet reduces dead load on purlins and the main frame, which is useful on long-span and retrofit roofs.
Corrosion Resistance Without a Zinc Layer
The alloy itself provides the corrosion barrier, so an exposed cut edge or a field scratch does not start a rust point as it would on a zinc-coated steel sheet.
Stable Across Service Temperatures
Al-Mg-Mn alloy retains useful mechanical properties under both high and low temperature service conditions, which suits roofs exposed to strong daily and seasonal temperature swings.
Specifiable Coating Build
PVDF or polyester, at 16, 25 or 35 µm, in single, double or triple coat. The build-up is selected to match the exposure of the project rather than fixed at one value.
Deep Profile Formability
The material roll-forms cleanly into tall standing seam profiles such as 65-430 and 25-430, and into wide trapezoidal profiles in the 900 and 840 series.
Fully Recyclable
Aluminium roofing sheet is a single-material product that can be recycled at end of life without separating a metallic coating from the base metal.

Roll-Forming Profile Options
Al-Mg-Mn roofing sheet is supplied either as flat coated coil for roll forming on site, or pre-formed into roofing panels. The profile designation fixes the rib geometry and the effective coverage of the panel, which in turn sets the number of panels and the fixing layout for a given roof area.

The profile designation is set by the roll-forming equipment, so please confirm the exact rib height and effective coverage required by your roof design before the order is released.
Coating System, Film Thickness and Colour
Roofing sheet is exposed to UV, rain, airborne pollutants and temperature cycling, so the coating system decides how the finished roof looks and performs over time. MESCO applies either fluorocarbon (PVDF) or polyester coating, and the dry film thickness can be supplied at 16 µm, 25 µm or 35 µm in a single-coat, double-coat or triple-coat build-up.
Coated Al-Mg-Mn panels installed on a metal roofing system.
Standard colours are dark grey, silver grey and sky blue. Because roof colour is usually fixed by the architect or the client, we also provide a colour matching service against customer-supplied samples or colour references. Where a colour sits at the limit of what the coating system can reproduce, we will tell you and offer the nearest achievable alternative rather than deliver a mismatch.

Applications
Al-Mg-Mn aluminum roofing sheet is used wherever a lightweight, long-life metal roof is required, particularly on buildings with large roof areas, long spans or complex roof geometry.
Architectural roofing and facadeOn-site fabrication
Industrial plants and workshops — large single-span roofs on production halls and industrial buildings.
Logistics and warehouse buildings — wide roofs where low dead load and fast installation matter.
Stadiums, exhibition halls and transport terminals — long-span roofs and curved roof geometry.
Commercial and public buildings — metal roofing used as the visible architectural finish.
Canopies, walkways and ancillary structures — low-rib profiles used where a lighter visual line is wanted.
Roof renovation — overlaying an existing roof where the structure cannot take additional steel weight.
Fabrication and Installation Notes
Al-Mg-Mn roofing sheet can be delivered as flat coated coil and roll-formed into panels on or near the site, which keeps the panel length matched to the roof run and reduces the number of end laps. It can also be supplied as finished panels where on-site roll forming is not practical.
Because the material is softer than steel, handling and cutting practice differs. Cut edges should be kept clean, aluminium swarf should be removed from the panel surface before the roof is closed up, and contact with bare steel tools or steel offcuts should be avoided during installation to prevent embedded contamination. We provide handling guidance with the order.
Quality Control
Incoming aluminium coil is checked for alloy, temper, gauge and width before coating.
Coating film thickness is controlled and checked as part of the coated coil inspection.
Colour is compared against the approved reference for each production run.
Coating adhesion and surface appearance are inspected on the finished coil.
Finished coils are wrapped and identified so that the specification travels with the coil to the job site.
Inspection records are prepared against the order specification for the shipment.
Where your project calls for third-party inspection or specific test documentation, we can arrange the inspection scope together with the order.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Al-Mg-Mn aluminum roofing sheet?
It is a 3xxx-series aluminium alloy containing manganese and magnesium, supplied as coated coil or roll-formed panel for metal roofing. The alloy provides the strength and formability, and the applied PVDF or polyester coating provides the architectural colour and weather resistance.
Which alloys and tempers are available?
MESCO supplies 3003, 3004 and 3104 alloy in H24 and H44 temper. The suitable alloy and temper depend on the profile depth and the span of the roof, so please confirm them against your roof design.
What thickness and width can I order?
Aluminum coil thickness is 0.8 mm, 0.9 mm, 1.0 mm or 1.2 mm, and coil width is 400 mm, 500 mm, 575 mm or 600 mm. Other combinations can be discussed against your requirement.
Which roll-forming profiles do you supply?
We supply 65-430, 65-400, 25-430, 25-400, 900 and 840 profiles. The first four are standing seam profiles and the 900 and 840 series are trapezoidal corrugated profiles.
How do I choose between 16, 25 and 35 µm coating?
The right film thickness follows the exposure of the project and the coating system selected. As a general principle, a thicker coating build gives a longer barrier against UV and atmospheric attack, and PVDF is normally specified where colour and gloss retention over a long service period are the priority. Tell us the location and the intended service life and we will recommend a coating build to match.
