PSMB aluminum jacketing is an aluminium coil hot-press laminated with a PolySurlyn moisture barrier film. The film bonds to aluminium, iron, steel, wood and fabric under heat and pressure, holds its adhesion across extreme service temperatures, and gives the finished jacket the air tightness and corrosion protection required on insulated pipelines and vessels.

Overview
MESCO supplies PSMB aluminum jacketing and cladding — aluminium coil laminated with a PolySurlyn (Sarin) film — for pipe insulation and pipeline corrosion protection. The aluminium substrate is 3003 alloy in H14, H24 or H16 temper, between 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm thick, in coil widths of 914 mm, 1000 mm and 1200 mm. The PolySurlyn film is applied at 0.08 mm by hot pressing.
The product is supplied in blue, orange and pink, and the surface can be embossed with an orange peel texture. Film coverage is controlled so that the film covers the full width of the board, with the film edges kept within the aluminium width; where the application requires it, the coil is slit to the exact width so the film does not overhang the metal edge.
What Is PSMB Aluminum Jacketing?
PSMB stands for PolySurlyn moisture barrier. It is a laminated construction in which a polymer PolySurlyn film is bonded to an aluminium coil under heat and pressure, producing a jacket with a continuous, air tight polymer face over a formable metal substrate. The polymer film carries the moisture barrier and the adhesion; the aluminium carries the mechanical strength and the shape.
The film is a high-polymer adhesive film, so it bonds not only to aluminium but, under hot pressing, also to iron, steel and other metals, as well as to wood and fabric. In production the film gives off no volatile matter and no odour, and it runs at high efficiency, which keeps the lamination process clean and the output consistent.

Surface Finish and Colour
The laminated surface is supplied in three standard colours — blue, orange and pink — and can be left smooth or embossed with an orange peel pattern.
