Overview
Kraft paper laminated aluminium coil is produced by hot-pressing a kraft paper facing onto one or both faces of an aluminium coil during a continuous lamination pass. The paper is bonded across the entire coil width under controlled tension, so the facing stays registered to the aluminium edge from the first metre of the coil to the last. The finished coil is then slit to the customer's required width for downstream roll-forming, shearing or cutting into pipe-jacketing sections.
Because the paper facing is a fibre-based material, the coil offers a low-cost, easily recyclable alternative to polymer-film jacketing for insulated pipelines. It protects the insulation beneath from UV exposure, light mechanical abrasion and dust ingress, while the coloured surface keeps plant and pipe-rack installations visually consistent. The aluminium core provides the rigidity, formability and moisture barrier the jacket needs to stay on the pipe through handling, transport and service.
What Is Kraft Paper Laminated Aluminum Coil?
The product is a layered composite, not a coated sheet. Each layer has a defined job, and the bond between them is what determines whether the jacketing survives bending and site handling without delaminating.
Layer
Function
Notes
Kraft paper facing
Printed or coloured outward surface, UV and abrasion protection for the insulation beneath
Paper thickness 1.02 mm; blue, orange or pink; orange-peel embossing available
Adhesive bond layer
Permanently bonds paper to aluminium across the full coil width
Applied and cured in the hot-lamination pass under controlled tension
Aluminium substrate
Structural core, moisture barrier, formability for roll-forming and bending
Edge control is the critical quality variable. If the paper wanders off the aluminium edge during lamination, the exposed aluminium edge becomes a starting point for coating damage and moisture tracking, and the coil will not run cleanly through a slitter or roll-former. The lamination line therefore tracks the paper edge to the aluminium edge continuously rather than correcting it after the fact.
Key Features
Full-Width Paper Coverage
The paper facing is laminated across the complete coil width — not a narrow strip. Paper and aluminium edges stay aligned along the full coil length, so no bare aluminium edge zone is left exposed for moisture or mechanical damage to enter.
Hot-Lamination Bond
The facing is bonded by heat and pressure in a continuous pass rather than by a cold adhesive. The result is a uniform, non-bubbling bond that survives coil handling, slitting and the tight bend radii used when forming pipe jackets.
Two Surface Finishes
Supply the coil with a smooth paper surface, or with an embossed orange-peel texture that helps hide handling marks, fingerprints and minor creases once the jacket is installed on site.
Three Standard Colours
Blue, orange and pink are held as standard facing colours, allowing different pipeline systems, plant areas or clients to be colour-coded without a separate painting step on site.
Easy Downstream Processing
The laminated coil slits, shears, roll-forms and bends with standard sheet-metal equipment. No special tooling is required to convert it into profiled jackets, flat sheets or pre-cut pipe sections.
Export-Ready and Recyclable
Packed for sea freight with edge protection and moisture-controlled wrapping. The fibre-based facing is easier to separate and recycle than a fully bonded polymer film, which matters to projects with material-recovery targets.

Colour and Surface Finish Options
Facing colour and surface texture are selected at the paper stage, so they are locked in before lamination and remain uniform across the whole coil.

Lamination Process and Edge Control
The requirement that matters most on this product is coverage: the kraft paper must cover the entire sheet surface and must not drift sideways during lamination. A paper edge that wanders leaves a narrow strip of bare aluminium running the length of the coil, and that strip concentrates every risk — moisture tracking under the paper, edge corrosion, and a snag point that catches on roll-former guides.
Coil preparation. The aluminium coil is unwound, surface-checked and cleaned so the bond layer contacts bare metal rather than dust or rolling residue.
Paper infeed and tension control. The kraft paper is fed at a tension matched to line speed. Keeping tension steady is what prevents lateral drift; the paper edge is tracked to the aluminium edge throughout the run.
Hot-press bonding. Heat and pressure are applied in a continuous pass to cure the bond layer across the full width in a single operation.
Cooling and rewinding. The laminated coil is cooled under controlled tension and rewound flat, so the paper does not wrinkle or lift at the core.
Inspection and slitting. Each coil is checked for full-width coverage and edge alignment. Where a trimmed edge is required, slitting is carried out so that the finished width is fully paper-covered to both edges.
Our factory standard on this line is a fully covered sheet face with the paper edge kept inside the aluminium edge, and slitting applied where the customer requires a trimmed edge rather than an overhanging paper flap.
Kraft Paper Facing or Polymer Film Facing?
Both facings are produced on the same aluminium substrate and both protect pipe insulation. The right choice depends on the service environment and the project's material policy.
Consideration
Kraft paper facing
Polymer film facing
Relative cost
Lower material cost per square metre
Higher, driven by film resin
Surface durability
Good for indoor and sheltered outdoor service; more susceptible to scuffing on harsh sites
Higher resistance to abrasion and repeated washing
Weather exposure
Best suited to indoor plant, ductwork and sheltered pipe racks
Preferred for long-term direct outdoor weathering
Recyclability
Fibre-based facing, easier to separate and recycle
If you are unsure which facing suits your project, send us the service temperature, indoor or outdoor location and expected service life, and we will recommend the more suitable option from our range.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the kraft paper facing be supplied on both sides of the coil?
Single-side lamination is the standard configuration. Where both faces need protection — for example coils that will be handled from both sides — double-side lamination can be discussed against your order. Send us the application and we will confirm what the line can produce for that width and thickness.
How is the paper stopped from drifting during lamination?
Paper tension is controlled continuously through the lamination pass, and the paper edge is tracked against the aluminium edge rather than corrected afterwards. This is the process step that keeps the facing registered for the full coil length and prevents the bare edge strip that causes moisture tracking.
Which aluminium tempers are available?
3003 in H14, H24 and H16 are the standard tempers for this product, in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm. Other 3xxx tempers can be quoted on request depending on quantity and lead time.
Can the surface be embossed with an orange-peel texture?
Yes. The orange-peel embossing can be applied to any of the three standard colours. It is normally selected for visible installations where handling marks, fingerprints and minor creases need to be less noticeable once the jacket is in place.
What information do you need to quote this product?
Please send: aluminium thickness, coil width, alloy and temper, paper facing colour, smooth or embossed finish, single or double side, quantity, and the destination port. With those details we can confirm the closest standard combination, coil weight and lead time.
